2) George Weah

Scorer of ‘that’ goal George Weah was a legend for AC Milan and was the first truly world-class African footballer. He is almost mythical with the stories of his power, pace and technique all combining to create one of the most complete footballers of his generation. He won a variety of trophies in a career that took in clubs like Milan, Chelsea and PSG and was even named African Player of the Century in 1996!


1) Samuel Eto’o

Arguably the most decorated Africa football player. He made his name at Real Mallorca having struggled to break into the side at Real Madrid before eventually joining Barcelona. Having been a catalyst in the resurrection of Barcelona under Frank Rjikaard being a difference in the 2006 European Cup winning campaign. He also scored in the 2009 Final in Rome, before departing for Inter Milan.

Winning the European Cup with Inter as well, he moved to Russia with Anzhi and done a good job there, before finally returning to the top table with Chelsea for a season. A player with a whole host of international and club medals including a Gold Medal. It’s no surprise that the man to have won a record four African Player of the Year is the continent’s richest player.
