Who says Africa is poor African leaders have to realise that until they stop wasting money buying arms instead of investing in education, health, science and technology the situation will never change. Libya is an example it took a couple of month take Gaddafi out all his weapons he had at his disposal. His air crafts and the navy was made redundant. as for Nigeria am not sure they would in that position while boko haram is terrorising them on a daily basis

So silly. Anyone who would believe this is either dumb or ignorant. i.e: I dont see how would Ethiopia’s $340mil budget make it more powerful than South Africa’s $3,4Bil budget. The overall arrangement is quiet silly.

@Sciber, dont see 34 bill budget ; its nothing related to with
powerfulness; the only thing is how to manage the money nd how could use
      the money effectively ; most of Africa country r corrupted ; example;
Nigeria bought 6 billion locomotion train from china but Ethiopia bought
475 million best train not locomotion u see the difference ? my friend ,
dont be foolish ; be smart ; money doesn’t make u strong, but ur
skill or experienced make u strong .

this classification fails to consider aspects like discipline and courage.. Am seeing bunches of large but inefficient militaries.swelling the ranks with thousands of cowards is stupidity. can’t believe south Sudan and DRC etc are before Cameroon.

Am yet to see where cameroon has fought and won. South Sudan has been at war for decades, can t be equated to quiet cameroon. DRC has been going major restructuring too!

being powerful doesnt consider the strength of wealth, and riches you own but it depends on the tactical skills and the discipline with in the army forces thats why you see Egypt and Algeria overtaking southAfrica which is one of the richest nation in Africa

Very true, spoke like a true arms man,in the aim to second your comment.
it is only on the rare chances that dialogues don`t work thus does war inevitable occur and no mater the number of troops, wealth or the kind of economy a state has without THE tactical advantage it just a matter of leading fellow arms men to their deaths,a sad act don`t you think? However from the claim from my respected fellow friends above as well as the admin to thi8s post, there is a claim that the people Africa people poor, well much of that is true but which state amongst other continents doesn`t have a poor citizen.
This driven steriotype that Africa is a poor is just mere propaganda told to us so often that most of us have come to terms with, well i have not what i would call US is rather a young nation emerging to the world.
The reason to whey we are as claimed is due to political corruption and failing justice systems and to amend that it will take time as well as patience.
Fellow brothers the the real fight is not in Arms but in stabilizing and strenthening our currencies to help our own people for that is the true purpose for a leader, through education, improved heath care and embracing our cultural identity of who we are but not what they tell us to be.
in conclusion, individually we write our own destines let not other people do it for [email protected] this page please do more research on the new changes of African because from the given statsts i differ from your [email protected] apologiez i had to hijack your post but you are the only person who seemed to know of what you talk about.

A mistake is to be corrected, you said that Egypt has the largest defense budget in the world. In Africa it is surpassed by Algeria with its $10 billion, while in the world, everyone is far from the US with its $200 billion a year or so.
    Thx

How can you put NIGERIA in that position when it cant stop BOKO HARAM and its been years now but they are still failing to stop them

  16. 24
  17. 25

Boko Haram is a terror group. They fight and hide. Why hasn’t US wiped al-Qaeda if its military is the best?
Nigeria should be right behind Egypt. They have been involved in most of the UN peace operations in Africa.

tactical methods and the spirit of endurance and perseverance is the major criteria to rank a nation in terms of military power. annual budget on defense is a poor compensation to military power
